Odisha: Teacher Education Institutions to engage guest faculties by July 1

Bhubaneswar: The state government has asked the Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) across Odisha to engage guest faculties on contractual basis for the Academic Session 2026-27.

The Higher Education Department of the state government has sent a communique in this regard to the Principals of all TEIs recently.

In the communique, the department has asked the TEIs to initiate the process for the preparation of a fresh panel of teaching faculties for engagement as guest faculties on contractual basis for the Academic Session 2026-27.

The process should be carried out in accordance with the NCTE guidelines, said the letter.

The TEIs have been told to engage guest faculties for all subjects under the 2-year B.Ed programme. Besides, they will recruit guest faculties, including Associate Professors and Professors, for M.Ed programme through walk-in-interview.

The guest faculties will be engaged for a period of nine months. The entire process, starting from the publication of advertisement to engagement of guest faculties will be carried out through the HIMS portal, said the department.

“The engagement process will be completed in a time-bound manner so that the guest faculties can join their work by July 1,” it added.

As per the guidelines, the guest faculties (Assistant Professors) for B.Ed programme will get monthly remuneration of Rs 35,000.

The Associate Professors for M.Ed programme are entitled to the monthy remuneration of Rs 40,000 while the Professors will be paid Rs 50,000 as monthly salary, said the Higher Education Department.
