Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids on properties linked to Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Junior Engineer (JE) of the CAD Division in Bhadrak, over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to Vigilance officials, searches carried out so far have led to the detection of two multi-storeyed buildings, seven valuable plots, cash and other movable assets in the name of Mohanty and his family members.
During the raids, officials unearthed a triple-storeyed building at Samaraipur in Bhadrak town. Another double-storeyed building was found at Narasingdiha in the Basta area of Balasore district.
The Vigilance team also traced seven plots at different locations. These include two plots in Bhadrak town, one on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, three plots on the outskirts of Basta town and one at Amarda in the Rasgovindpur area.
Officials said the Vigilance Technical Wing is currently carrying out measurement and valuation of the buildings and plots.
Apart from immovable assets, the anti-corruption agency recovered cash amounting to Rs 1,73,180 during the searches. The weighing and valuation of gold ornaments are also underway.
The Vigilance department further stated that details of bank deposits, postal savings and investments in other financial instruments linked to the accused are being verified. Three two-wheelers were also detected during the searches.
Officials said the raids are continuing and the total value of the assets is yet to be ascertained.
