Oil refinery pipeline breach in Odisha’s Paradip raises safety concerns

Bhubaneswar: A breach in the pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in Odisha’s Paradip town was reported on Friday.

The breach reportedly occurred in the restricted zone of the Paradip port.

The incident took place while crude oil was being transported to a terminal of the IOCL at the port town from a ship in the afternoon.

On being informed, technicians of the IOCL and officials of the CISF fire wing rushed to the spot and tried to repair the breach.

A major oil spill was reported following the breach in the pipeline.  Fire Brigade personnel have been deployed and all precautionary measures have been introduced to avoid any fire mishap.
