Bhubaneswar: A festive outing turned tragic for the family of Subrat Kumar Mekap, who died due to electrocution during Raja celebrations in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

According to reports, the 44-year-old had visited a resort in the Chandaka area with his family to celebrate the Raja festival. The incident occurred while he was boating in a water body within the resort premises.

Family members alleged Mekap came into contact with an electric current during the activity. A relative claimed negligence on the part of the resort authorities, particularly in maintaining safety measures, led to the mishap.

The incident took place at around 5 pm. Mekap was declared dead following the accident.

Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
