Rayagada: An employee of State Bank of India (SBI) died after reportedly falling from a moving train at Ambodala railway station in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Sabat, an employee of the SBI branch at Lanjigarh.

According to reports, Dilip was travelling to Ambodala on the Bhubaneswar–Junagarh Express train. The incident occurred early Monday morning when the train reached Ambodala railway station.

Sources said Dilip had reportedly fallen asleep during the journey. By the time he woke up, the train had already started leaving the station. In a bid to get down from the moving train, he reportedly lost balance and slipped, sustaining critical injuries.

Personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) immediately rescued him and shifted him to the Ambodala hospital for treatment. However, as his condition deteriorated, doctors advised that he be shifted to Bhawanipatna for advanced medical care.

Unfortunately, Dilip succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital at Bhawanipatna.
