SIR to start in Odisha from July 1; check key dates

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will begin in Odisha from July 1, 2026, as part of Phase III of the nationwide exercise.

According to a press note issued by the ECI, the SIR will be conducted in a phased manner across 16 states and three Union Territories. Odisha has been included in the phase.

The Commission stated that the schedule has been prepared keeping in view the common field machinery engaged in the ongoing Census house-listing exercise.

As per the schedule, July 1, 2026 has been fixed as the qualifying date for the revision process in Odisha.

Preparation, training and printing-related activities will be carried out between May 20 and May 29, 2026. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house visits from May 30 to June 28.

The rationalisation of polling stations is scheduled to be completed by June 28, while the draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, 2026.

The period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from July 5 to August 4. Disposal of claims and objections will continue from July 5 to September 2.

The final electoral roll will be published on September 6, 2026.
