Bhubaneswar: The number of accused in the murder of a youth near Rasulgarh square in Bhubaneswar rose to five after two more persons were nabbed by the Commissionerate Police.

Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra informed the two additional accused in the case includes a woman. The two more accused were Rakesh Naik alias Anda and his wife Lucky Naik alias Laxmi.

Yesterday, three persons including a woman were arrested for hacking the youth, Sahadeba Naik on NH-16 near Rasulgarh Square. The incident occurred at around 8 AM. The three accused were held from an area in Nayagarh district.

All the five accused have been staying in Kedarpalli area. 

Based on the complaint of the deceased’s wife, the Case no 10 was registered at the Mancheswar Police Station and investigation into the murder was launched.

The Bhubaneswar DCP said three special teams were formed to nab the accused and investigate the case. The weapon of murder has been seized today.

The investigators have also seized two motorcycles, four mobile phones, apparels of the accused and two bags from the possession of the accused. Call record details of the mobiles will be examined to further the investigation, Mishra added.

Mishra added the case is still open as it is in preliminary stage. More arrests will be done soon as involvement of more persons in the case has not be ruled out completely, he stated.

The DCP said investigation so far reveals prolonged past enmity was the reason behind Sahadeba’s murder.

The accused did a well-thought out conspiracy to eliminate Sahadeba and executed it yesterday morning.

The Senior Police Official added one more accused has managed to escape during a raid, without divulging the person’s name.
