Bhubaneswar: A religious outfit in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh has agreed to postpone its proposed Rath Yatra on June 14 following objection from the authorities of Jagannath temple at Odisha’s Puri town.

The authorities of Bhagaban Shree Jagannath Ratha Yatra Seva Samiti have submitted their written consent before the Hapur district administration to postpone the proposed Rath Yatra.

The Hapur district administration today informed this to Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Arabinda Kumar Padhee.

Padhee, meanwhile, thanked the Hapur district administration for taking prompt steps to prevent the religious outfit from holding the untimely Rath Yatra.

“The religious outfit has agreed to hold the Rath Yatra in accordance with the schedule finalised by the Puri Jagannath temple. We are thankful to the Hapur district administration for their timely intervention on the issue,” Padhee said.

Earlier, the SJTA had objected to the proposed Rath Yatra by the religious outfit on June 14. It had written to the Hapur district administration seeking its intervention to halt the untimely Rath Yatra.

As per the traditional Tithi, the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is scheduled to be held at Puri on July 16.
