Woman, minor son electrocuted in Odisha’s Deogarh

Bhubaneswar: A 40-year-old woman and her minor son were electrocuted in Odisha’s Deogarh district today.

The incident took place at Kamarpal village under Kundheigola police limits in Deogarh in the afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Upabasi Bhootia, wife of Niranjan Bhootia, and her son Manoprit Bhootia (7) of the village.

As per reports, Upabasi got electrocuted after she accidentally touched a live wire connected to a water pump, installed at a well near her house.

Manoprit also met the same fate when he tried to save his mother, reports said.

The villagers rescued the mother-son duo and rushed them to nearby hospital. However, they were declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

On being informed, Kundheigola police reached the spot and seized the bodies before sending them for postmortem.

The cops have also registered a case of unnatural death and launched a probe into the incident.
