Cuttack: An unidentified woman's half-buried body was recovered from the Kathajodi riverbank under Baranga police limits in Odisha on Thursday.

The incident came to light after some residents of Brahmani village had gone to the river in the morning for bathing. They noticed a group of dogs digging into the sand and feeding on something suspicious. After looking closer, they found a partially buried human body and immediately informed the police.

Cops reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter after recovering the body.

Police said the identity of the deceased woman is yet to be established.

Preliminary suspicion suggests that the woman may have been murdered and her body buried in the riverbank in an attempt to conceal the crime.

Police said the investigation is currently underway.
