Jharsuguda: A 22-year-old worker was seriously injured after coming in contact with a 25 kV power line while carrying out repair work at Brajrajnagar Railway Station in Odisha's Jharsuguda district on Tuesday afternoon.

The injured worker has been identified as Pintu Bhaina, a resident of Bahadurpada. He sustained severe injuries in the incident and was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

According to information provided by the Government Railway Police (GRP), the incident occurred while repair work was underway on the aluminium shed above Platform No. 3 of the railway station. During the work, the labourer reportedly came into contact with the electric line, resulting in the accident.

Concerns are being expressed over whether adequate precautions were taken before allowing workers to carry out repairs near a high-voltage power line.
