Cuttack: The body of a youth, who had gone missing since late yesterday night after he allegedly jumped into river Mahanadi near Jobra locality in Cuttack, was recovered today while floating on the river water at ‘lovers’ Point’ near a local museum.

The deceased was identified as 29-year-old Prasanta Rout, who belonged to Chhatra Bazaar in the city.

According to a source, Prasanta had left his house following an altercation over a family feud. The upset youth later took an extreme step and ended his life by jumping into the water body.

On being informed the next morning, a joint team of fire services personnel and ODRAF had launched a frantic search when a motorcycle and a pair of chappal belonging to the youth were found at the spot.

The body was recovered by the team after striving for more than an hour.
