Cuttack: At least 250 house surgeons of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack today declared that they will not join their duties from tomorrow.

The ongoing faceoff between nursing staff and the medicos aggravated a step further.

This decision has given rise to the possibility that healthcare might be affected in the health facility.

Meanwhile, medical students in SCBMCH have extended their support to the house surgeons.

Notably, the house surgeons and nursing staff had separately staged protests in front of the SCBMCH superintendent’s office earlier in the day. They shouted slogans against each other.

The stir will continue for an indefinite period until their demand is met, a spokesperson of the house surgeons expressed.
