Bhubaneswar: Oil India Limited (OIL) today made donations to the Special Relief Commissioner of Odisha in the aftermath of Cyclone FANI.

OIL donated Rs. 3.2 crore in the form of a cheque to aid in the relief and restoration work being undertaken in the 14 cyclone-affected districts of the state, said Rajeev Singhal, General Manager of OIL.

He added that an additional 10 lakh litre of kerosene will be also be made available to the people of Odisha.

Earlier today, Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan replied to CM Naveen Patnaik's demand of extra kerosene and wrote in a letter, “I have advised one of the PSUs under Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to contribute around Rs 3.2 crore (equivalent to 1000 KL SKO on cost basis) through CSR funds to the CM Relief Fund/State Exchequer to meet the requirement."

Odisha CM thanked the Union Minister for this assistance and the former's office tweeted:

Thank Union Minister Shri @dpradhanbjp for considering our request to provide 1,000 KL of Kerosene Oil free of cost to #CycloneFani ravaged #Odisha. It would help meet the immediate demand for Kerosene Oil for lighting purpose.
