Bhubaneswar: The Coastal Security Wing of Odisha Police organised the "State Level Coastal Security Conference-2026" at the Police Bhawan on Thursday.
The conference featured detailed discussions on the challenges, solutions, and future courses of action regarding the state's coastal security.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg graced the valedictory session of the conference as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary emphasized that coastal security plays a pivotal role in achieving the vision of a "Samruddha Odisha" (Prosperous Odisha). With the rapid development of new ports, fish landing centers, industrial projects, and maritime infrastructure, the strategic importance of the coastal region is rising consistently.
While certain challenges exist, they cannot impede the state's progress, she noted.
Furthermore, she highlighted that coastal security is not the sole responsibility of the police or any single department; rather, it demands a well-coordinated approach. "By working together as a team, all departments and security agencies can build a robust and secure coastal security system," she said.
The state government remains fully committed to enhancing the capacity of the Coastal Security Wing through the adoption of modern technology, human resource development, and the creation of necessary infrastructure. The government is ready to provide all essential support to further empower coastal security, added the Chief Secretary.
“Moving forward, Odisha’s coastline will be made safer and more resilient through increased resources, advanced technology, and enhanced inter-departmental coordination,” she said.
