Bhubaneswar: Amid rising day temperatures across Odisha, several districts are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning over the next five days, bringing some relief from the heat.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph, likely to occur during afternoon or evening hours at isolated places in districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.
Similar weather conditions are also expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Boudh. A yellow warning has been issued for these areas.
Meanwhile, Talcher recorded the highest temperature in the state at 40.2 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Jharsuguda and Paralakhemundi at 40 degrees Celsius.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded temperatures of 38.8 degrees Celsius and 37.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
