Bhubaneswar: Tata Power, a private discom, on Saturday disconnected electricity supply to a government hospital in Odisha’s Sambalpur district over non-payment of power bills.

As per reports, the authorities of Themra Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sambalpur have not cleared pending electricity bills to the tune of Rs 1.56 lakh to Tata Power.

The private discom reportedly disconnected electricity supply to the CHC on Saturday as a part of its punitive measures.

However, the power disconnection to the CHC caused inconvenience to the patients as well as their attendants. The locals as well as members of the Bhim Army, a Dalit rights organisation, staged a road blockade to protest against the power disconnection to the hospital.
