Bhubaneswar: A woman from Odisha’s Nayagarh district has approached the Odisha State Commission for Women, alleging harassment by Khandapada SDPO Madan Mohan Pradhan and seeking his immediate arrest.
The woman has claimed that despite the registration of a case against the accused police officer, her life remains under threat due to his influence.
According to the complaint filed by the woman, the SDPO had sought inappropriate favours from the woman in connection with settling a case. The incident dates back to July 2025, when the complainant was reportedly called to the SDPO’s office under the pretext of resolving a matter. During the interaction, the officer allegedly obtained her contact number.
The woman has alleged that the officer repeatedly contacted her afterwards, pressuring her to meet at hotels and demanding objectionable images.
Following her complaint, a case was registered at the Fatehgarh Police Station, and a departmental inquiry was initiated by the Nayagarh Superintendent of Police. Subsequently, the accused officer was transferred to the district police headquarters to ensure a fair investigation.
Police have invoked multiple sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to obscene gestures, stalking, misconduct, and criminal intent. The investigation is currently underway.
Meanwhile, the complainant has urged the State Commission for Women to intervene and ensure the officer’s arrest, stating that she fears for her safety if strict action is not taken.
