Nimapada: In a shocking incident from Nimapada in Odisha’s Puri district, a family narrowly escaped death after miscreants allegedly tied them up and set their house on fire in a late-night attack.

The incident, reported from Chhabatia village, has triggered widespread outrage, especially after visuals of the aftermath began circulating on social media.

Victims hands and feet tied up before arson attempt

According to preliminary information, around six unidentified assailants forcibly entered the house of Gunannidhi Swain late at night. The attackers allegedly tied the hands, legs, and even the necks of his wife and son before setting the house ablaze, reportedly with the intention to kill the family.

Gunannidhi Swain managed to escape from the clutches of the attackers and raised an alarm. Responding swiftly, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the trapped family members from the burning house.

The victims sustained injuries but survived the ordeal, thanks to timely intervention by neighbours. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established, though police suspect a premeditated conspiracy to murder.

A complaint has been lodged at the local police station in Nimapada, and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the accused involved in the brutal act.
