Bhubaneswar: The CBI has arrested the Income Tax Superintendent at Odisha’s Bhadrak for taking Rs 4,000 as bribe from an individual.

According to the CBI, Bhadrak Income Tax Superintendent Ramesh Kumar Mohanty had sought Rs 5,000 as bribe from the individual for cancellation of his duplicate PAN card.

The individual had lodged a complaint in this regard with the CBI.

A trap was laid and the Income Tax Superintendent was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 4,000 as bribe from the complainant, said the CBI.

“A case has been registered against the accused officer and further investigation on the matter is underway,” added the central agency.
