Cuttack: An Odisha Civil Services (OCS) preliminary examination candidate was caught allegedly using unfair means during the test at a centre in the CDA area of Cuttack on Sunday.
The candidate, identified as Abhisek Rout (29), was found carrying a mobile phone concealed inside his undergarment and using an earphone while appearing for the examination. Following the detection of the malpractice, police arrested him along with three accomplices who were allegedly helping him from outside the examination centre.
According to reports, during the examination at the centre, invigilators grew suspicious after noticing Abhisek repeatedly reading out questions loudly. Upon verification, they found that he was communicating through an earphone connected to a concealed mobile phone.
Preliminary investigation revealed that three associates, identified as Soumyaranjan Sahu, Alex and Rupesh, were present in the CDA and Badambadi areas while helping him over the call by dictating answers.
After the malpractice came to light, Abhisek was handed over to the Markatnagar Police. During the examination of his mobile phone, cops traced the involvement of the three associates. Police later arrested all four individuals.
Notably, Abhisek is employed as a supervisor with an outsourcing agency at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
