Bhubaneswar: In a key decision, the Odisha government has discontinued the provision of interest-free advances for the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) by its employees.
In a letter issued on Tuesday, the state Finance Department informed all departments that the facility stands withdrawn with effect from April 1, 2026.
The interest-free EV advance was introduced under the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021, notified by the Commerce and Transport Department.
The policy, initially valid till December 31, 2025, was later extended up to March 31, 2026. The Finance Department had also set the final timelines for availing the interest-free advance.
In its latest communication, the department has directed all government departments to ensure strict compliance with the decision.
