Bhubaneswar: The state government has initiated process for the establishment of a medical college in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
The Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department has asked the Collector and District Magistrate of Jagatsinghpur to take the necessary steps for acquisition of land for establishment of the government medical college.
The state government has identified around 28 acre private land and 19 acre government land at Neepur village under Jagatsinghpur Tahasil for establishment of the medical college, said the H&FW Department in a letter to the Jagatsinghpur Collector.
“The identified land, both government and private, is required to be recorded in favour of the H&FW Department before initiating the process for establishment of the government medical college,” read the letter.
The state government has asked the Jagatsinghpur Collector to initiate the process for acquisition of the identified private land under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act-2013. Besides, the district administration has been asked to take the necessary steps towards alienation of the identified government land in favour of the H&FW Department for establishment of the medical college.
It is worth mentioning here that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had earlier announced the state government’s decision to set up a medical college in Jagatsinghpur.
