Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will construct a guesthouse (Janashraya) to provide affordable accommodation to people visiting the capital city for various purposes.
The 20-storey guesthouse will come up on around three acres of land in Unit-II area of the capital city.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today laid foundation stone for the project.
The proposed guesthouse will have 768 rooms and around 2,000 beds to accommodate visitors from all 30 districts of Odisha, said the state government.
“The guesthouse will have an eatery and a few shops for the convenience of the visitors. The facility will be equipped with a parking lot for around 600 vehicles. The visitors can avail a night stay by paying just Rs 100 per head,” said a source.
Earlier, the state government had approved a proposal for establishment of the guesthouse in the capital city.
The General Administration and Public Grievance Department had issued an order in this regard in June last year.
“The government after careful consideration has been pleased to approve the proposal for construction of Atithi Bhawan at Unit-II, Ashok Nagar, Bhubaneswar to accommodate the visitors coming from various districts to the capital city to facilitate officials and healthcare-related needs,” said the order.
