Gajapati: In view of prevailing heatwave conditions, authorities have ordered the closure of all schools in Gajapati district for three days, from April 22 to April 24.

The directive, issued by the District Education Office, applies to both government and private institutions, covering classes from Sishu Vatika to Class XII.

Examinations exempted; academic activities partially continue

The DEO clarified that the closure will not affect scheduled examinations. Students appearing for exams will continue to do so as per the existing timetable.

In neighbouring Malkangiri, the district administration has announced a slightly longer closure, with schools set to remain shut from April 22 to April 25 due to the ongoing heatwave.

Despite the shutdown, examinations for Classes V to VIII will be conducted as per the guidelines of the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA). Additionally, essential administrative activities, including census-related work and school operations, will continue alongside the restrictions.

The precautionary measures come as temperatures continue to soar across parts of Odisha, prompting authorities to prioritise student safety while ensuring minimal disruption to academic schedules.
