Odisha, Japan to strengthen cooperation in key sectors

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government and the authorities in Japan will strengthen their cooperation in tourism, skill development and other key sectors.

The Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Ishikawa Yoshihisa, called on Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Loka Seva Bhawan in the capital city here today and held discussions on strengthening Odisha-Japan ties in various sectors.  

Majhi and the Consul General of Japan held discussions on strengthening Odisha–Japan relations across trade, investment, technology, tourism, and skill development, said the state government.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister appreciated Japan’s continued support to Odisha’s growth journey and welcomed the proposed sister-state partnership between Odisha and Tottori Prefecture.

The Chief Minister and the Consul General of Japan agreed to further deepen institutional cooperation and explore enhanced opportunities for youth employment and tourism linkages, added the state government.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the discussions focused on avenues to further strengthen Odisha-Japan partnership in trade, investment, tourism, technology and academic exchanges.

“There were also discussions on expanding tourism prospects, especially through Odisha’s Buddhist circuit and creating greater employment opportunities for Odia youth in Japan,” said the CMO.
