Bhubaneswar: Former Kenyan MP and Odisha-origin doctor Swarup Ranjan Mishra has been cleared of allegations related to illegal human organ trafficking and transplantation, following an official investigation by Kenya’s parliamentary panel.

The Health Committee of Kenya’s National Assembly, which examined the allegations, found no evidence of wrongdoing against Mishra or the Mediheal Group of Hospitals, where he serves as chairman. The committee’s findings effectively exonerated both Mishra and the hospital group from all charges.

In its report, the panel also recommended lifting all restrictions that had been imposed earlier in connection with the allegations. The committee further called for reforms in Kenya’s organ transplantation sector to ensure better regulation and transparency.

Responding to the development, Mishra reiterated his commitment to maintaining international standards in patient care, safety, and medical ethics.

Originally from Odisha, Mishra is a well-known medical professional in Kenya and had earlier served as a Member of Parliament, gaining recognition for his contributions in both healthcare and public service.
