Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded its first temperature above 45 degrees Celsius this season, with Jharsuguda emerging as the hottest place in the state at 45.3°C on Tuesday.
Jharsuguda’s reading is also reported to be the eighth-highest temperature recorded in the town for the month of April.
At least 11 places across the state recorded temperatures of 40°C or above, indicating prevailing heatwave conditions.
Sambalpur recorded 43.5°C, followed by Hirakud at 43.3°C, Bargarh at 42.9°C, and Rourkela at 40.7°C. Other places reported relatively lower temperatures, with Kendujhar at 39.7°C, Chandbali at 37.6°C, Balasore at 37°C, Bhubaneswar at 34.5°C, and Puri at 33.2°C.
