Bhubaneswar: A police complaint has been lodged against actor-turned-politician Arindam Roy over his alleged objectionable remarks against media persons.

The Cuttack Media Group, an association of working journalists, lodged a complaint against Roy at Purighat police station in Odisha’s Cuttack city.

As per the complaint, Roy, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Assembly polls on a BJP ticket from Salipur constituency, allegedly made some objectionable remarks against journalists in a social media post on May 19.

The association has urged the Purighat police to launch a probe into the incident and take appropriate action in this regard.

Members of the association have also threatened to launch an agitation if the police do to take appropriate steps on the issue.

It is worth mentioning here that a police complaint was lodged against Roy and a few other BJP activists for allegedly misbehaving with the Additional Block Development Officer (ABDO) of Tangi in Cuttack district a few days ago.

Roy, however, refuted the allegations and claimed that he had not done anything wrong. “There is no truth in the allegations that I had hurled abuses at the ABDO. I had visited the block office to raise some issues concerning the locals. I only talked in a loud voice after the officials did not provide any satisfactory answers,” said Roy while issuing a clarification on the issue.
