Sambalpur: Fresh allegations of ragging have surfaced at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla in Odisha's Sambalpur district, prompting disciplinary action against four students.

According to reports, a Mechanical Engineering student was allegedly ragged by three second-year students and one third-year student. Following the complaint, the university’s anti-ragging cell launched an investigation into the incident.

A fact-finding committee constituted by the institution found all four accused students guilty. Based on the findings, the university imposed monetary penalties on them as a disciplinary measure.

The ragging incident dates back around 15 days ago, when a group of senior students was questioning a junior near the main gate of the campus. During this time, another student recorded a video of the incident, which reportedly led to a verbal altercation between the students.

Amid the argument, the student’s mobile phone fell to the ground and was damaged, further escalating tensions.
