Bhubaneswar: The Southwest Monsoon made its onset over Odisha on Friday, marking the beginning of the rainy season in the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon entered Odisha through the northernmost part of the state, an unusual development as it typically advances into Odisha from the southern region every year before spreading across other districts.
The arrival of the monsoon is expected to bring much-needed relief from the prevailing hot and humid weather conditions that have affected several parts of the state in recent weeks.
Residents have been experiencing discomfort due to high temperatures and moisture-laden conditions.
Meteorologists said the monsoon is likely to advance further into other parts of Odisha in the coming days, leading to increased rainfall activity across the state.
