Bhubaneswar: Amid scorching heat across several parts of Odisha, summer vacations for schools and colleges are likely to be announced within a day or two. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Thursday said a proposal regarding the vacation schedule has been sent to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The minister added detailed discussions have already been held on the matter.
Meanwhile, the state continues to reel under intense heatwave conditions. Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature at 43.4°C till 2:30 PM, followed by Sambalpur at 42.6°C. The capital city, Bhubaneswar, registered 41.8°C during the same period.
Several districts have already temporarily shut schools after local administrations reviewed the situation. The state government had earlier empowered district collectors to suspend classes based on ground conditions amid the rising temperatures.
