Balangir: A government school teacher was critically injured after being attacked by a swarm of bees in Balangir district on Monday.

The injured teacher, identified as Dolamani Hans, is posted at Sareibahal UP School under the Tankapani cluster in Khaprakhol block in Balangir district. He was returning from census duty in a nearby village when the incident occurred.

Collapsed by roadside after attack

According to reports, Hans was on his way back from Goelmunda village when a swarm of bees suddenly attacked him. He sustained severe injuries and collapsed by the roadside.

Local residents spotted him lying in a critical condition and immediately rushed to his aid. He was rescued and transported to the district headquarters hospital in Nuapada for treatment.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of personnel engaged in door-to-door government work such as census operations.

On Saturday, a school teacher was injured after being attacked by a pet dog while carrying out census-related work in the Dengibhadi area of Sundargarh town.
