Bhubaneswar: Addressing a public meeting in Odisha's Balangir, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today came down heavily on the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, claiming that the saffron party is trying to amend the constitution of the country.

"BJP leaders say they will amend the constitution if they win the elections. I want to tell every BJP leader and worker that no power in the world can change the constitution. BJP has waived loans worth Rs 1600 lakh crore for 22 industrialists. The government is working not for the people, but for a few influential individuals," Gandhi said in his speech.

Exuding confidence that the Congress will be victorious in the elections, Gandhi said, "The INDI alliance government will be formed on June 4, and a list of poor people, including backward classes, minorities, labourers, and others, will be prepared. These are the people whom the Modi government has impoverished. Each poor woman from these families will receive Rs 1 lakh annually. They will get the first installment of Rs 8500 in July and similar amounts in the following months. This is true development, as Congress will make many women lakhpatis."

Gandhi also promised, "The Congress will waive farmers' loans and provide guaranteed MSP for paddy and other crops. Farmers will no longer have to wait for months to get crop insurance; they will receive it within 30 days. In Odisha, many families are engaged in MNREGA and Anganwadi. Currently, the Centre provides Rs 250 under MNREGA, but once the INDIA alliance is in power, they will get Rs 400."
