Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the twin polls in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Nabarangpur on May 7, BJP sources said.

Modi will address a public meeting in Nabarangpur and conduct a roadshow. BJP's Lok Sabha candidates for Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Berhampur, and candidates for 21 Assembly constituencies will be present at the public meeting, sources said.

The party has planned to gather around 1 lakh people for the public meeting.

Modi's visit to the state assumes significance as he had recently said in an interview that self-identity of Odisha is in danger.

"Odisha’s self-identity is in danger and Odia language is under threat. I do not think that the people of Odisha will tolerate this for long," the Prime Minister had said while replying to a question on Odisha and its ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

"The common people of Odisha have aspirations. I think we (BJP) should get a chance to serve the people of the state. We will take Odisha to great heights," Modi said.

Worth mentioning, voting for four Lok Sabha constituencies (Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Berhampur) and 28 Assembly seats will take place on May 13 while May 11 is the last date for campaigning.
