Dhenkanal: Four census staffers, including two women, were injured after being allegedly attacked while carrying out enumeration work in the Kamakhyanagar area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district today.

The incident took place at Mahimanagar Sahi, where the team had gone for census data collection as part of the ongoing statewide exercise.

According to reports, a man, along with his two sons, allegedly assaulted the officials, abused them verbally, and prevented them from conducting the census. The attackers also vandalised a vehicle used by one of them.

One of the women said she sustained injuries on her face and was chased by the accused, who allegedly attempted to attack her with stones.

Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot. However, the accused reportedly continued to behave aggressively and used abusive language even in the presence of cops.

Police have detained the accused and initiated a formal investigation into the incident.
